International shipbroker Braemar Seascope has organised a music concert to mark the first anniversary of the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami and to raise funds for the Japanese Red Cross Society.
The concert, at St Andrews Church, Holborn, on Thursday March 8th, will be performed by the Japanese professional classical singers and pianists the Morimoto Sisters who trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London and will feature a mixture of Japanese traditional songs, operatic arias and piano duets. Starting at 7.30pm the concert will be followed by a reception during which Japanese appetizers and Sake will be served and donations will be collected.
Charles Ellis of Braemar Seascope’s Tanker Department, who organised the event, said he was keen to bring together the Japanese Shipping community in London in memory of the terrible events resulting from last year’s earthquake and tsunami. He explained: “With the first anniversary of the devastating Tohoku earthquake and Tsunami approaching (March 11) there is still huge devastation and many people have been left homeless in the region. We are aiming to raise funds for the Japanese Red Cross Society to help the area which is still recovering from such devastating destruction.”
