How We Operate
Beginnings
In 1982, ACM Shipping Ltd and Braemar Shipbrokers Ltd are founded as independent companies that specialise in Vessel Sales & Purchase and Tanker Chartering.
Going Public & Expansion
In 2001, London shipbroking company Seascope Shipping Holdings PLC merges with Braemar Shipbrokers Ltd to form Braemar Seascope Group PLC, acquiring Braemar Tankers Ltd in the same year and then Seawise Australia in 2005.
Acquisitions
Braemar Seascope Group PLC purchases DV Howells in 2006 (later Braemar Howells, part of an Environmental Division). A year later, a Braemar-owned ship agency company called Cory purchases Fred Olsen Freight and Braemar Shipping Services purchases Falconer Bryan (later Braemar Offshore, part of a Technical Division).
Further Growth
In 2007, Braemar Seascope Group PLC becomes Braemar Shipping Services PLC., purchasing Steege Kingston (later Braemar Adjusting, part of a Technical Division) in 2008 and BMT Marine and Offshore Surveys in 2011 (incorporating the Salvage Association).
Mergers
Braemar Shipping Services PLC merges with ACM Shipping Group PLC in 2014, trading under ‘Braemar ACM’ until 2022 when the ACM name was dropped. In 2017, Braemar acquires NAVES Corporate Finance GmbH to create a new Financial Division, trading under the name ‘Braemar NAVES’.
New Services
In 2018, Braemar completes the acquisition of Atlantic Brokers Ltd, a Coal Commodity and Derivatives Brokerage, and expands into broking Dry Forward Freight Agreements (FFAs) to create a derivatives broking desk in our Shipbroking Division.
Streamlining
In 2018, we dispose of Braemar Response and a year later divest Offshore, Marine and Adjusting to AqualisBraemar LOC ASA. We focus our core services towards providing expert advice in shipbroking via new appointments in our senior management team.
Integration
In 2020, Braemar opens offices in Geneva and Athens. A year later, the sale of 50% of Braemar’s holding in AqualisBraemar LOC ASA further strengthens our balance sheet. During 2021–22, we dispose of Braemar Wavespec, sell Cory and fully integrate Braemar NAVES.
Technical Advantage
The development of our own technology-driven solutions along with strategic investments in such partners as Zuma Labs means that we’re able to offer unique, real-time and historical data to the shipping market.
New Horizons
We continue to diversify and expand our geographical presence while exploring innovative opportunities in such exciting growth sectors as renewables and carbon offsetting.
